The Jack Dempsey (Rocio octofasciata) is a moderate-care, aggressive species from Central America. Adults reach roughly 10", so plan on a minimum tank of 55 gallons. Keep the water between 72–86°F with a pH of 6.5–8. It does not school and can be kept singly or in species-appropriate numbers. It is predatory and will eat fish small enough to fit in its mouth. As a carnivore, it does best on a varied diet appropriate to its feeding style.
