The Texas Cichlid (Herichthys cyanoguttatus) is a moderate-care, aggressive species from United States and Mexico. Adults reach roughly 12", so plan on a minimum tank of 75 gallons. Keep the water between 70–82°F with a pH of 6.5–8. It does not school and can be kept singly or in species-appropriate numbers. It is predatory and will eat fish small enough to fit in its mouth. As a carnivore, it does best on a varied diet appropriate to its feeding style.
